Alarms
Adjusting the Alarm Tone
The volume of the alarm tone is adjustable. Make
sure that you set the volume of the alarm tone, so
it can be heard during the noisiest times.
You can only disable the alarm tone, if the patient
is connected to the Infinity network or the Cockpit is
in OR mode. When the alarm tone is disabled, the
banner Audio Alarms Off appears in the header
bar of the Cockpit. If the Cockpit loses its
connection to the Infinity network while an active
alarm is present, the alarm tone sounds at 100%. If
no active alarm is present, the loss of connection to
the Infinity network produces an alarm tone at 50%.
In either case, the alarm tone volume selection Off
disappears. If the Cockpit resumes its connection
with the Infinity network, the previously active
setting for the alarm tone volume is reinstated.
To adjust the alarm tone volume
1 Select the Alarms... button on the main-menu
bar.
2 Select the Settings tab.
3 Select either the desired setting next to the
Alarm volume button. The available settings
are:
Off (if the patient is connected to the Infinity
network or the Cockpit is in OR mode)
10% to 100% in increments of 10%.
Testing Visual and Audible Alarm Signals
The alarm bar and the speakers of the M540 and
the Cockpit are automatically tested during startup.
You can also test alarm signals by creating an
alarm condition (for example, by lowering the HR
upper-alarm limits). To end the test, restore the
alarm limits to the previous setting (see
"Configuring a Patient’s Alarm Settings"
on page 85).
NOTE
If the Alarm volume off feature is enabled in the
Code setup page (see page 289), the alarm
volume is automatically reduced to its minimum
setting when you select the Code button on the
main-menu bar.
