1 About these Service Instructions
This manual for sewing machine 867 was compiled with the utmost care.
It contains information and notes in order to make long-term and reliable
operation possible.
1.1 Scope
This manual describes the setting and maintenance work on the
867 sewing machine. It applies to all submodels.
The intended use and set-up is described in the operating manual.
1.2 Representation conventions – symbols and characters
Various information in this manual is represented or highlighted by the fol-
lowing characters in order to facilitate easy and quick understanding:
Proper setting
Indicates proper setting.
Malfunctions
Specifies the faults that can occur due to an incorrect setting.
Steps to be performed when operating the machine
(sewing and equipping)
Steps to be performed for servicing, maintenance, and installation
Steps to be performed via the software control panel
The individual steps are numbered:

The sequence of the steps must always be followed.
