REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Fuel Rail & Injectors - Replacement
WARNING: DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED
TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN
WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL-RELATED
COMPONENT. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES
ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY BE IGNITED,
RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
WARNING: FUEL IN THE FUEL SYSTEM REMAINS
UNDER HIGH PRESSURE EVEN WHEN THE
ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. BEFORE WORKING ON
OR DISCONNECTING ANY OF THE FUEL LINES OR
FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS, THE FUEL SYSTEM
PRESSURE MUST BE RELIEVED. FAILURE TO
FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN
PERSONAL INJURY.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove and/or disconnect components to allow
access and removal of the fuel rail & injectors. Label
if necessary to allow for correct reinstallation.
CAUTION: After disconnecting fuel lines, plug the
ends to prevent fuel leakage.
3. Disconnect fuel lines -- Refer to“General Service
Procedures” on page 31of this section.
4. Disconnect injector electrical connectors.

7. If necessary, remove the retaining clips and
separate the fuel injectors from the fuel rail - discard
the o-rings.
CAUTION: Use o-ring seals that are made of special
fuel-resistance material. The use of ordinary o-rintg
seals can cause the fuel system to leak. Do not re-
use the o-ring seals
8. Reverse procedure to install:
• Lubricate new o-rings with clean engine oil
• Tighten fuel rail bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
