Camshaft Lobe Lift
1. Use the Dial Indicator with Bracketry to measure
camshaft intake lobe lift.
2. Rotate the camshaft and subtract the lowest dial
indicator reading from the highest dial indicator
reading to figure the camshaft lobe lift.
3. Use the Dial Indicator with Bracketry to measure
camshaft exhaust lobe lift.
4. Rotate the camshaft and subtract the lowest dial
indicator reading from the highest dial indicator
reading to figure the camshaft lobe lift.
Camshaft Runout
NOTE: Camshaft journals must be within specifications
before checking runout.
• Use the Dial Indicator with Bracketry to measure the
camshaft runout.
• Rotate the camshaft and subtract the lowest dial
indicator reading from the highest dial indicator
reading.
Camshaft End Play
• Move camshaft to the rear.
• Zero dial indicator.
• Move camshaft to the front.
• Compare end play with specifications.
