EMERGENCY
1. DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
The airplane emergency equipment includes the Emergency Locator Transmitter (2, Fig. 25-10), first
aid kit (1), and emergency hammer (3). Optionally may be installed the emergency parachute system
(4).
A. Emergency Locator Transmitter
The Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) is designed to identify the airplane position after the
emergency landing or crash.
The ELT is located on the right side of the plate behind the baggage compartment. You can
control the ELT with a remote switch or directly on the unit panel. The panel of the ELT remote
switch is located on the left part of the instrument panel or in the central part of the instrument
panel.
The external antenna is located on the bracket in the plane of the upper fuselage longeron (in
front of the bulkhead No. 9). The external antenna is covered with the composite fairing
between the fuselage top and the fin which is riveted to the fuselage. The portable antenna is
attached to the mounting bracket of the ELT.
Normal position of the switch on the control panel is ARM, when the transmitter is ready for an
automatic activation.
The ELT operation starts automatically (switch on the unit in the ARM position), when the ELT
is activated by the switch which enses the airplane acceleration in the longitudinal direction.
When the airplane exceeds the value of the longitudinal acceleration, the ELT unit is
automatically activated and it starts to transmit the emergency radio signal on the emergency
frequency.
In order to activate the ELT manually, press the ON button on the control panel, or toggle the
switch on the unit to the ON position.
In order to switch the activated ELT off, press the RESET button on the control panel, or toggle
the switch on the unit to the OFF position.
