G.709 Optical Transport Network (OTN)
Overview
The optical transport network (OTN) combines the benefits of SONET/SDH
technology with the bandwidth expansion capabilities offered by dense
wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) technology.
The OTN consists of the following layers:
Optical Transport Section (OTS)
Optical Multiplex Section (OMS)
Optical Channel (OCh)
Optical channel Transport Lane (OTL)
Optical Transport Unit (OTU)
Optical Data Unit (ODU)
Optical Channel Payload Unit (OPU)
