4.4.2 Fault Contact
A Fault contact (FAULT) detects faults in discrete or analog reference addresses, or locates faults
(rack, slot, bus, module).
■ To guarantee correct indication of module status, use the reference address (%I, %Q, %AI, %AQ) with the
FAULT/NOFLT contacts.
■ To locate a fault, use the rack, slot, bus, module fault locating system variable with a FAULT/NOFLT
contact.
Note: The fault indication of a given module is cleared when the associated fault is cleared from the
fault table.
■ For I/O point fault reporting, you must enable point fault references in Hardware Configuration.
FAULT passes power flow if its associated variable or location has a point fault.
