34 Adding Samples to the 3rd Wave
Groove Synthesis
5. If you want to change the input sample rate before you record your
sample, press soft button 4 to go to the next screen, then press options.
Use soft knob 1 to select the desired sample rate (48 kHz, 24 kHz, or
12 kHz). When you have nished, press soft button 1 to return to the
previous screen
Choosing a sample rate of 24 kHz or 12 kHz will reduce sample resolution
(and delity) and consume less memory than sampling at 48 kHz.
6. Adjust the level of your audio source for optimum volume. If neces-
sary, use soft knob 4 (input gain) to increase or decrease recording
level. Be careful not to clip the audio input or the sample will be
distorted.
7. When you are ready, press soft button 1 (arm) then play your audio
source. With recording armed, the 3rd Wave will automatically start
recording when it detects a signal from the audio source. It will auto-
matically stop recording when the signal ends.
8. Press soft button 2 (play) to hear the sample you have captured. If you
want to re-record the sample, press soft button 1 (arm) and repeat step
7.
9. Once the sample is captured, you can trim its length by turning soft
knob 1 (start) to adjust the start point and soft knob 2 (end) to adjust
the end point. The start and end points are shown on the graph with
blue lines.
10. If you are happy with the sample, press soft button 3 (save) to navigate
to the save sample screen. Refer to “Saving and Assigning Samples to
a Slot” on page 36 for details on the various settings you will nd
there.
