Importing Serum
™
Wavetables
Xfer Serum is a wavetable synthesizer plug-in that creates high-quality
wavetables using a visual interface. The 3rd Wave can directly import
Serum
™
wavetable .wav les and save them as custom User Wavetables.
To import a Serum wavetable:
1. Connect the 3rd Wave to your computer using a USB cable.
2. When the 3rd Wave appears on your desktop, double click its icon and
drag the Serum wavetable .wav le into the 3rd Wave’s audio folder.
3. On the 3rd Wave, press the global button and use soft knob 1 to scroll
to the read wavemaker wave file command.
4. Turn soft knob 2 (go) clockwise. You will see the name of the Serum
.wav le.
5. Press soft button 4 (ok). The 3rd Wave imports the Serum .wav le.
6. The Wave Maker screen appears in the display. The Wave Maker
displays the imported .wav audio. The display will say “Serum wavet-
able detected.”
7. Press soft button 2 (play) to audition the audio and make sure it is what
you intended.
8. Press soft button 4 (make table). The Wave maker creates a wavetable
from the Serum .wave le.
9. To audition the new wavetable before saving it, go the Oscillator
section and use the wavetable knob to set Oscillator 1 to “wm” as its
wavetable. This wavetable is the very last wavetable available (after
the “A” set).
10. Hold down a note on the keyboard and move the Mod Wheel on your
MIDI controller to sweep through the waves in the wavetable.
11. If you like what you hear, press the Make Waves button again to
display the Wave Maker screen.
12. Press soft button 3 to save the wavetable.
13. In the screen that appears, use soft knob 3 and 4 to name the wavetable.
14. Use soft knob 2 to select a numbered location in the User set for the
new wavetable.
