Working with Multi-Parts
The 3rd Wave is 4-part multitimbral, meaning that it can produce four
different sounds/programs at the same time. You can layer different
sounds together or assign different sounds to different keyboard zones.
When a Multi-Part button is lit, that part is active (and audible). Each
part can have 2 different effects and each part can have its own sequence
“track” for each pattern in the sequencer. This allows for some very
powerful combinations of sounds. Saving a preset saves all multi-parts,
miscellaneous settings, and sequences with the preset.
Because the 3rd Wave has 24 voices of polyphony, multi-parts equally
divide the 24 voices by the number of parts active:
If 1 part is active, that part has 24 voices.
If 2 parts are active each part has 12 voices.
If 3 parts are active, each part has 8 voices.
If 4 parts are active, each part has 6 voices.
The exception to this voice allocation rule is when you are using Splits or
the Sequencer. Both dynamically allocate available voices as needed. For example,
if you have a four part program with sequences on each part, and 8 notes are being
used by part 1, all 8 voices will play as long as the other three parts of the sequence
aren’t using more than 16 voices.
