Creating a Pattern
A sequence can have up to 24 different patterns.
To record a pattern:
1. Select a program.
2. In the Sequencer section, press any button to show the Sequencer
controls in the main display.
3. Pattern 1 is selected by default. If you want to record a different
pattern, use soft knob 1 to select a different pattern to record.
4. Use soft knob 2 to set the number of measures in the pattern.
5. Use soft knob 3 to set a quantization value. This will force the notes
that you play to align to the chosen value. You can also set quantization
to off. When off, the Sequencer will record the notes exactly as you
play them without correcting their timing.
You can change the Quantize setting even after you have recorded a
pattern. The Sequencer records any notes you play exactly as you play them and
applies quantization separately.
6. Press the record button. It ashes indicating it is ready to record.
7. Press the play button. The click track plays a 4-beat count in. Press
the tap tempo button twice to set a tempo or in the display, use the bpm
control (soft knob 1) to adjust the tempo as necessary.
8. When the click/sequence loops around to the beginning of measure 1,
play a series of notes or chords on the keyboard. You can continue to
add (overdub) notes to the sequence as it repeats.
9. If you make a mistake, press soft button 1 (clear all) then repeat steps
6 - 8 to play the notes correctly.
10. To stop recording, press the record button.
11. To stop playback, press the play button.
12. To save the sequence, save the program by pressing the write button twice.
To temporarily mute a pattern as it plays:
As the sequence plays, press and hold soft button 3 (mute) in the
Sequencers main menu. The Sequencer mutes playback of the active
parts as long as you hold down the button.
