80 The Wave Surfer
Groove Synthesis
When you move the wave surfer the current position (and wave offset)
of each of the oscillators appears in the main display. When you turn the
Wave Surfer Knob, you will see the wave positions change according to
the offset that the Wave Surfer applies.

Wave Surfer controls
This page also gives you the option to change the base wave offset for
each of the three oscillators independently. This is the same as changing
the wave offset parameter directly on each of the oscillators.
Turn the Wave Surfer quickly to go through the wavetables and “surf”
the waves. Depending on the wavetables that you have chosen, you will
hear either subtle or dramatic changes.
Pressing the
reset button sets the Wave Surfer back to zero. The Wave
Surfer ‘s range is from -63 to 63. If you reach the end of any wavetable it
will stop at 63 for that selection.
Since this control has a range of -63 to 63, the starting point is affected
by the offset that has been set into the wavetable. The negative range is
used to go from a high offset back down to zero. Once you have reached
zero, it will not go any lower. If you reach the end of any wavetable, it
will stop at 63 for that selection.
The only exception is with the P wavetables. If you have the
upper
wavetable setting enabled in the wave flow menu (press the wave flow
button). If you move the Wave Surfer knob beyond the 64th wave posi-
tion, (position 63), you will hear the P wavetable move into the upper
wavetable, which is table P30.
