3rd Wave User Manual
Creating Custom Wavetables
5. On the 3rd Wave, press the global button and use soft knob 1 to scroll
to the read wave maker wave file command.
6. Turn soft knob 2 (go) clockwise. You will see the name of the .wav le.
7. Press soft button 4 (ok). The 3rd Wave imports the .wav le.
8. The Wave Maker screen appears in the display. The Wave Maker
displays the imported .wav audio.
9. Press soft button 2 (play) to audition the sample and make sure it is
what you intended.
10. If you want to adjust the start and end points in the sampled audio, use
soft knob 1 and soft knob 2 to make these adjustments.
11. To adjust the sensitivity that determines where the Wave Maker looks
for appropriate “waveform” points within the audio, adjust the Wave
Sensitivity encoder with soft knob 4. The default setting of 0.125 is
sensitive. Turning soft knob 4 clockwise results in less sensitivity and
fewer timbral differences to extract waveforms (i.e. fewer dramatic
timbral changes).
12. Press soft button 4 (make table). The Wave maker analyzes and creates
a wavetable from the sampled audio.
13. To audition the new wavetable before saving it, go the Oscillator
section and use the wavetable knob to set Oscillator 1 to “wm as its
wavetable. This wavetable is the very last wavetable available (after
the “A” set).
14. Hold down a note on the keyboard and move the Mod Wheel on your
MIDI controller to sweep through the waves in the wavetable.
15. If you like what you hear, press the Make Waves button again to
display the Wave Maker screen.
16. Press soft button 3 to save the wavetable.
17. In the screen that appears, use soft knob 3 and 4 to name the wavetable.
18. Use soft knob 2 to select a numbered location in the User set for the
new wavetable.
19. Press soft button 4 (ok) to save the wavetable. The wavetable will now
appear at the end of the “U” set along with the name you have given
it. You can now use the Wave Envelope and other controls to sweep
through the wavetable as you like.
