5.5 VLAN
Under VLAN you will find all the tables and attributes for configuring and
monitoring the VLAN function in accordance with the IEEE 802.1Q standard.
Note: When configuring the VLAN, ensure that the port to which your man-
agement station is connected can still send the data of the management sta-
tion after the VLAN configuration is saved. Assigning this port to the VLAN
with ID 1 ensures that the management station data is always sent.
Note: If you want the device, along with the VLAN processing, to also per-
form the distribution of VLAN information to the neighboring devices, you
activate GVRP globally (see the VLAN:Global menu item).
Note: Save the VLAN configuration to non-volatile memory (see fig. 31).
Note: The 256 available VLANs can use any VLAN ID between 1 and 4042
(MACH 4000: 3966).
Note: In a HIPER-Ring with VLANs, you should only operate devices with the
software that supports this function:
X RS2 xx/xx (from vers. 7.00),
X RS2-16M,
X RS 20, RS 30, RS 40 (L2E, L2P)
X MICE (from rel. 3.0) or
X Power MICE
X MS 20, MS 30
X RSR20, RSR30
X MACH 1000
X MACH 4000
