Table 3-2. BSC module LED status display codes
Display Code Mode Description
I Switched-In, In Service The module is a primary and is transmitting data, receiving data, and
otherwise functioning normally.
O Switched-In, Out Of Service The module has been prohibited from providing services to users and
network components. This is similar to the maintenance mode,
except that services are cut off immediately, without a transition
through camp on mode.
A Switched-In, Maintainance A component in maintenance mode is available for operator control
and testing, but does not provide services to user traffic. A BCC
operator will be able to receive status information, control the
component, and run diagnostics tests that would not be allowed while
the module was in in-service mode.
C Switched-In, Camp On When an operator places a module into maintenance mode, services
to users are cut off gradually, through the use of a transitional camp
on mode. While in camp on mode, the module continues to service
existing user calls, but will not accept any new calls. Once all calls
have been completed, the module will automatically enter
maintenance mode and alert the operators.
F Switched-In, Failed The module has detected a malfunction either in the module itself or
in an associated component.
U Switched-In, Undefined This mode is assigned by the BCP as the operational state of a
module that has not reported summary status to the BCP for some
time. This mode value is only maintained at the BCP and at status
table servers. It is observable by BCC operators.
Flashing When flashing, indicates that communications between the CAP in
the BSC and a BTS channel unit have been lost.
i Switched-Out, In Service The module is a backup (or secondary) and is receiving data and
otherwise functioning normally.
o Switched-Out, Out Of Service Same as switched-in, out-of-service mode.
a Switched-Out, Maintainance Same as switched-in, maintenance mode.
c Switched-Out, Camp On Same as switched-in, camp-on mode
e Switched-Out, Failed Same as switched-in, failed mode
u Switched-Out, Undefined Same as switched-in, undefined mode.
