Determining the Level of Firmware on the System

The firmware level can be denoted in either of the following forms:
v RRyymmdd, where RR = the pSeries 630’s firmware designation, yy = year, mm = month, and dd = day
of the release.
v vRyymmdd, where v = version number, R = the pSeries 630’s firmware designation, yy = year, mm =
month and dd = day of the release.
If your system is running AIX, the platform firmware level can be determined by either of the following
methods:
v On the AIX command line, by typing:
lscfg -vp|grep -p Platform
A line that begins with ROM level (alterable).. displays the firmware level that is currently on the
system.
v Looking at the top of the service processor main menu.
If the system is running Linux, the platform firmware level can be determined by any one of the following
methods:
v If the system was installed prior to May of 2003, and has not had a firmware update in May 2003 or
later, type the following on the Linux command line:
lscgf -vp | grep RR
v If the system was installed in May of 2003 or later, or the system has firmware on it that was released
in May 2003 or later, type the following on the Linux command line:
lscfg -vp | grep 3R
A line similar to Alterable ROM Level RR021114 or Alterable ROM Level 3R030509 displays the firmware
level that is currently on the system.
v Looking at the top of the service processor main menu.
