b. Pull the fan cable out of the cable retainer clip.
c. Grasp the top of the fan with your index finger and thumb and lift the fan
out of the server.
8. If you are instructed to return the fan, follow all packaging instructions, and
use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Replacing a front fan
Use this information to replace a front fan.
About this task
For proper cooling, the server requires that all fans in the system be operating at
all times.
Attention: To ensure proper server operation, if a fan fails, replace the fan
immediately.

Steps for installing Fan 1A:
To install or replace a front fan, complete the following steps
1. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new fan to any
unpainted metal surface on the server. Then, remove the new fan from the
package.
2. Pull up the blue handle on the fan cage.
3. Orient the fan so that the fan cable points to the system board.
4. Lower the fan into the fan slot in the server and ensure that is it seated
correctly.
