7.11.3 S-tube
The minimum wall thickness for the S-tube depends on the maximum possible operating pressure.
Furthermore, the fact that the s-tube is subject to greater stress at the point at which the torque is
applied (S-tube shaft S-tube connection) must be taken into consideration.
Area of significant loading.
Note ___________________________________________________________________
We must emphasis the fact that the s-tube is subject to variable degrees of loading as a
consequence of the dynamic loading during pumping. There is no general method for
calculating this loading, which depends on the individual circumstances, and so the
delivery line can also burst at an operating pressure, which is assumed still to be
permissible.
You should also note that the operating pressure can rise to the maximum pressure in the
event of a blockage, and in this case the wall thickness may no longer be adequate.
