TheFontssettingsdialogboxletsyouspecifyhowTrueTypefontsaresentto
theprintingsystem.Thechosenmethodaffectsthespeedandqualityofthe
printjob:

Thismethodisbestsuitedforlargedocumentsorprintjobsusingmultiple
fontsandfontsizes.Printspeedsarefasterbecauseoftheoptimization
featuresinthissetting.Therepetitionofsimilarfontdatasenttotheprinting
systemisreduced,therebyincreasingtheprintspeed.Printspeedisnot
increasedwhenusingAsianfontssuchasJapanese,Chinese,andKorean,
becauseofthelargeamountoffontinformationusedfortheseparticular
fonts.

Thismethodimprovestextqualityandincreasesprintspeedbyconverting
TrueTypefontstoAdobeType42fontformat.Thisfeatureisavailablewhen
KPDLisselected.
Downloadasbitmaps
Downloadingfontsasbitmapsprovidesmoredetail,howeveritcreateslarge
filesizes.Thisisbestsuitedforprintjobswithuser-definedfonts,verysmall
fonts(pointsize1-4),orAsianfonts.
Substitutewithdevicefonts
Systemfontsanddevicefontsareautomaticallymatchedbasedontypeface
name.Thisfunctionincreasesprintspeedandefficiency.Itisusefulfor
changingafontusedthroughoutalargedocument,byreplacingtheoldfont
withthedesiredfont.
Note:GDIcompatiblemodedoesnotsupportSubstitutewithdevice
fonts.

Fontsubstitutionistheprocessofusingonefontinplaceofanotherwhenthe
intendedfontisnotavailabletoaprintingsystem.Fontsubstitutionmaybe
criticalforoutputofdocumentstoprintingsystemsthatarenotwellsupported
byalargefontinventory.
IntheImagingtab,clickFonts>Substitutewithdevicefonts>Fontsto
opentheFontSubstitutiondialogbox.
TheSystemfontslistshowsthefontsinstalledonyourcomputer.The
Availabledevicefontslistshowstheprintingsystem.Selectthesystemfont,
andthentheavailabledevicefonttobesubstituted.ClickOKtosaveyour
settings.Ifthedevicefontdoesnothavesimilarfontcharacteristicstothe
systemfont,characterspacinginthedocumentmayappearincorrect.
