1.Ifthecomputenodehasrecentlybeeninstalled,moved,serviced,orupgraded,verifythat
theDIMMisproperlyseatedandvisuallyverifythatthereisnoforeignmaterialinanyDIMM
connectoronthatmemorychannel.Ifeitheroftheseconditionsisfound,correctandretrywith
thesameDIMM.(Note:TheeventLogmightcontainarecent580A4eventdenotingdetected
changeinDIMMpopulationthatcouldberelatedtothisproblem.)
2.ChecktheLenovosupportsiteforanapplicablefirmwareupdatethatappliestothismemory
error.Thereleasenoteswilllisttheknownproblemstheupdateaddresses.
3.Ifthepreviousstepsdonotresolvetheproblem,atthenextmaintenanceopportunity,swap
theDIMMsonthesamememorychanneloneatatimetoadifferentmemorychannelor
Processor.(checkserviceinformationforthisproduct/Installguideforpopulationrequirements
forsparing/paringmodes).IfPFAfollowsamovedDIMMtoanyDIMMconnectoronthedifferent
memorychannel,replacethemovedDIMM.
4.IfnoproblemisobservedontheDIMMconnectorsandtheproblempersists,replacetheDIMM
identifiedbyLightPathand/oreventlogentry.
5.Ifproblemre-occursonthesameDIMMconnector,swaptheotherDIMMsonthesamememory
channelacrosschannelsoneatatimetoadifferentmemorychannelorProcessor.(check
serviceinformationforthisproduct/Installguideforpopulationrequirementsforsparing/paring
modes).IfproblemfollowsamovedDIMMtoadifferentmemorychannel,replacethatDIMM.
6.(Trainedservicetechnicianonly)RemoveaffectedProcessorandinspectProcessorsocketpins
fordamagedormis-alignedpins.Ifdamageisfound,orthisisanupgradeProcessor,replacethe
systemboard.IftherearemultipleProcessor’s,swapProcessor’stomoveaffectedProcessorto
anotherProcessorsocketandretry.IfproblemfollowstheaffectedProcessor(orthereisonly
oneProcessor),replacetheaffectedProcessor.
7.(Trainedtechnicianonly)IfproblemstayswiththeoriginalDIMMconnector,re-inspectDIMM
connectorforforeignmaterialandremove,iffound.Ifconnectorisdamaged,replacesystem
board
