Lenovo System x3500 M5 Type 5464 - Installing the System Battery

Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoturnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,
anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toremovethebattery,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Carefullyturntheserveronitssidesothatitislyingflat,withthecoverfacingup.
Attention:Donotallowtheservertofallover.
Step2.Unlockandremovetheleft-sidecover(see“Removingtheleft-sidecover”onpage182).
Step3.Removetheairbaffle(see“Removingtheairbaffle”onpage188).
Step4.Removethesystembattery:
a.Ifthereisarubbercoveronthebatteryholder,useyourfingerstoliftthebatterycoverfrom
thebatteryconnector.
b.Useonefingertotiltthebatteryhorizontallyoutofitssocket,pushingitawayfromthesocket.
Attention:Neithertiltnorpushthebatterybyusingexcessiveforce.
c.Useyourthumbandindexfingertoliftthebatteryfromthesocket.

Step5.Disposeofthebatteryasrequiredbylocalordinancesorregulations.
