Beforeinstallinga3.5-inchsimple-swapharddiskdrive,readthefollowinginformation:
•Inspectthedrivetrayforsignsofdamage.
•Tomaintainpropersystemcooling,donotoperatetheserverformorethan10minuteswithouteithera
driveorafillerpanelinstalledineachdrivebay.

and“Installationguidelines”onpage29.
Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoturnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,
anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toinstalla3.5-inchsimple-swapharddiskdrive,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Turnofftheserver.
Step2.Unlocktheleft-sidecover.
Note:Youmustunlocktheleft-sidecovertoopenorremovethebezel.Whenyoulocktheleft-side
cover,itlocksboththecoverandthebezel.
Step3.Openthebezel(see“Openingthebezeldoor”onpage47).
Step4.Removethefillerpanel,ifoneispresent.
Step5.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthediskdrivetoanyunpaintedmetalsurfaceon
theserver;then,removethediskdrivefromthepackageandplaceitonastatic-protectivesurface.
Step6.Grasptheblackdrivehandleandslidethebluereleaselatchtotherightandalignthedrive
assemblywiththeguiderailinthebay.
