Thefollowingnotesdescribethetypesofadaptersthattheserversupportsandotherinformationthat
youmustconsiderwhenyouinstallanadapter:
•Toconfirmthattheserversupportstheadapterthatyouareinstalling,seehttp://www.lenovo.com/

•Locatethedocumentationthatcomeswiththeadapterandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditionto
theinstructionsinthissection.
•Donotsetthemaximumdigitalvideoadapterresolutionabove1600x1200at75HzforanLCDmonitor.
Thisisthehighestresolutionthatissupportedforanyadd-onvideoadapterthatyouinstallintheserver.
•Avoidtouchingthecomponentsandgold-edgeconnectorsontheadapter.
•TheserverusesarotationalinterrupttechniquetoconfigurePCIadapterssothatyoucaninstallPCI
adaptersthatdonotsupportsharingofPCIinterrupts.
Attention:Staticelectricitythatisreleasedtointernalservercomponentswhentheserverispowered-on
mightcausetheservertostop,whichmightresultinthelossofdata.Toavoidthispotentialproblem,
alwaysuseanelectrostatic-dischargewriststraporothergroundingsystemwhenworkinginsidethe
serverwiththepoweron.

Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoturnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,
anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
ToremovetheSDadapter,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Turnofftheserverandperipheraldevicesanddisconnectallpowercords.
Step2.Unlockandremovetheleft-sidecover(see“Removingtheleft-sidecover”onpage182).
Step3.Removetheairbaffle(see“Removingtheairbaffle”onpage188).
Step4.Ifnecessary,removetheadapterclosedtotheSDadapter(see“Removinganadapter”onpage

).
Step5.Loosenthetwoscrews.
Step6.LifttheSDadapteroutoftheserver.
Step7.RemovetheSDcards.
