2. Turn off the server. Disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see “Power off the server” on
page 16
).
To install an M.2 drive, complete the following steps:

Note: In the process of installation, carefully proceed the steps to prevent the drives from dropping.
Step 1. Insert the retainer into the slot and push it forward to firmly seat it into the slot.
Step 2. Insert the M.2 drive on the bottom into the slot with an angle as shown.
Step 3. Rotate the M.2 drive on the bottom upward and hold it to against the adapter.
Step 4. Install the screw to secure the M.2 drive to the adapter.
Step 5. Insert the M.2 drive on the top into the slot with an angle as shown.
Step 6. Rotate the M.2 drive on the top downward and hold it to against the adapter.
Step 7. Install the screw to secure the M.2 drive to the adapter.
After you install an M.2 drive, complete the following steps:
1. Install the node if needed (see
“Install a node” on page 101).
2. Reconnect power cords and all external cables.
