Mounting Pedestal
The pedestal must be rigid and may not flex or vibrate while the car is moving. A manufactured
pedestal, LS-PEDESTAL, is available from MCE.
1. Attach the mounting pedestal securely to the elevator crosshead beam.
2. Place the LS-RAIL on the mounting pedestal and slide it into position so that the posi-
tion encoder wheel is touching the front face of the rail. If necessary, loosen the screws
that adjust the position of the leveling sensor bracket(s) and move the brackets away
from the rail.
3. Use mounting bolts, washers, and nuts to secure the assembly in place but loosely
enough to slide. Move the LS-RAIL base forward about one and 1/2 inches
to
provide adequate encoder wheel-to-rail pressure, then secure the hardware.
4. Bring the guide wheels in until they just touch the sides of the rail. They should not
pinch the rail between them because this can prevent the encoder wheel from moving
backwards and forwards to maintain rail contact if rail irregularities are encountered.
CAUTION! Sensors can be damaged by collision with rail hardware. Move the car cautiously
until adequate clearance is verified. Damage due to mechanical contact is NOT covered
by the warranty!
