Adjustment Problems
Performance and Ride Quality
Learning system inertia can provide better dynamic performance and better ride quality.
TORQMAX
1. With a balanced load in the car, bring the elevator to the middle of the hoistway. On
Inspection, move the car first up, then down. Actual torque should be equal but in the
opposite direction (see drive Home/Diag/Screen #3).
2. Move the car to the bottom landing. Set drive LL10 INERTIA LEARN to Start to begin
the inertia learn procedure (Home > Prog > Tune Parameters).
3. Place the car on Inspection. On the touch screen select CONFIG 02 > SYSTEM CON-
TROL PARAMETERS. Scroll down to FOLLOWING ERROR, record the current value
and then set this parameter to 50% of the current value. Press ENTER and then SAVE.
Return the car to automatic operation.
4. Run the car at full contract speed from the bottom landing to the top landing and then
back down to the bottom landing. Repeat the run from bottom to top and then top to
bottom.
5. After four runs, the drive will automatically calculate the inertia value based on the aver-
age of the four runs. The value will be saved on the drive Home > Prog > Control Set-
tings > LC41 SYSTEM INERTIA parameter.
6. Once inertia has been learned, LC02, LC42, LC43, and LC44 parameters can be
adjusted. (Home > Prog > Control Settings)
7. Place the car on Inspection. On the touch screen select CONFIG 02 > SYSTEM CON-
TROL PARAMETERS. Scroll down to FOLLOWING ERROR and set parameter to the
original value recorded in step 3. Press ENTER and then SAVE. Return the car to auto-
matic operation.
Magnetek HPV S2
1. To perform this procedure, you will need to run the car at full contract speed with a bal-
anced load.
Est Inertia can be viewed on the drive D1 Elevator Data menu.
Inertia can be adjusted on the drive A1 Drive menu.
2. Refer to Using the Software to Estimate the System’s Inertia in the appendix of the Mag-
netek HPV AC Drive Technical Manual and follow that procedure.
3. With system inertia properly adjusted, final tuning of the speed regulator can be per-
formed. The Response parameter on the drive A1 Drive Menu is one parameter that can
be used to adjust the speed regulator. Please see the Magnetek HPV AC Drive Technical
Manual for tuning/adjustment procedures.
