Chapter 7 MC959B-K - Configuration
Introduction
This chapter explains how to activate anMC959B-K on a CDMA or GSM wireless network and establish settings.
The MC959B-K can be used as a modem to connect the MC959B-K to an ISP or work network. The MC959B-K
can connect to the Internet or work network using cellular line.
Quick Startup Steps
To start using the MC959B-K for with a data connection:
1. Select the correct carrier/network. See Switching Carrier Networks on page 7-2.
2. For GSM networks, install an activated SIM card, if applicable. See Installing the SIM Card on page 1-3 or
Installing the Secondary SIM Card on page 1-5 and then install the battery. See Installing the Battery on page
1-7.
3. For CDMA networks, activate the MC959B. See CDMA Activation on page 7-2.
4. Configure a data connection, if required. See Creating a Data Connection on page 7-2.
5. For GSM networks, configure GSM settings. See GSM Settings on page 7-4.
GSM Activation
To active on a GSM network install an activated SIM card. See Installing the SIM Card on page 1-3 or Installing the
Secondary SIM Card on page 1-5.
NOTE Before the MC959B-K can be used on a CDMA wireless network, a provider must be selected, a data-enabled
service plan must be established and the MC959B-K must be properly configured (where applicable).
Network Time Synchronization is not available on the MC959B-K.
