Z Lens 6.1.6.1
The Z
lens
values for the standard supplied lenses are determined at the factory and stored with each lens.
When a lens is inserted into BeamSquared, the data is automatically loaded in to the software.
Most lens makers supply a Focal Length and a Back Focal Length value with each lens. Each lens supplied by
Ophir-Spiricon is mounted in a lens holder. Ophir-Spiricon lens holders place the back surface of the lens at
95.50mm from the reference plane (Z
lens
equals 95.50mm).
Z Fixture 6.1.6.2
The Z
fixture
value is determined at the factory and does not change unless the unit is damaged, and repaired at
the factory. This value is always associated with a particular BeamSquared serial number and is automatically
loaded on software startup or device connection.
Z Camera 6.1.6.3
The Z
cam
distance can vary depending on the physical characteristics of the camera. BeamSquared is supplied
with an adapter that supports both C-mount and CS-mount cameras. The distance from the camera mount to
the C-mount lens mounting plane is 1.27mm (see image below). The standard C-mount lens mounting plane
to CCD imager distance is 17.53mm, and the CS-mount distance is 12.53mm.
Thus, for a camera with a standard C-mount configuration, the Z
cam
distance would be the sum of these two
values = 18.80mm.
