How to stop the engine
1. Adjust the engine speed control to the
minimum speed position. Ensure that the
control lever for the reverse gearbox is
in the neutral position. If the engine has
operated at high load for a long period of
time, allow the engine to cool for one to
two minutes.
2. Press the stop button (A6 page 15) (A6
page 17) until the engine stops. Release
the stop switch or rotate the switch to the
off position.
Adjustment of engine speed
range
The idle or maximum speed settings must
not be changed by the engine operator,
because this can damage the engine or
the transmission. The warranty of the
engine can be affected if the seals on the
fuel injection pump are broken during the
warranty period by a person who is not
approved by Perkins.
Running-in
A gradual running-in of a new engine
is not necessary. Prolonged operation
at light loads during the early life of the
engine can cause lubricating oil to enter
the exhaust system. Maximum load can
be applied to a new engine as soon as the
engine is put into service and the coolant
temperature has reached a minimum of
60
O
C (140
O
F).
Cautions:
• The engine will benet if the load is
applied as soon as possible after the
engine is put into service.
• Do not operate the engine at high
speeds without a load.
• Do not overload the engine.
Angle of tilt
For yachts with auxiliary engines, it
may be necessary to use the engine
during operation against the wind. In
these conditions, an angle of tilt (port or
starboard) up to 25
O
continuous operation
or 35
O
intermitent operation is permissible.
Come spegnere il motore
1. Regolare la leva di accelerazione sul
minimo più basso. Controllare che la leva
di comando dell’invertitore sia in folle. Se
il motore ha funzionato a un carico elevato
per un periodo lungo, lasciare che si
raffreddi per uno o due minuti.
2. Premere il pulsante di arresto (A6 pag.
15) (A6 pag. 17) no a quando il motore si
spegne. Rilasciare l’interruttore di arresto
oppure ruotarlo sulla posizione spenta.
Registrazione del regime del
motore
La registrazione dei regimi minimo e
massimo non deve essere modicata
dall’operatore dato che si potrebbero
arrecare danni a motore o trasmissione.
La garanzia del motore decade se i sigilli
sulla pompa di iniezione vengono rotti,
durante il periodo di decorrenza della
garanzia, da persone non autorizzate dalla
Perkins.
Rodaggio
Non è necessario un rodaggio graduale
di un motore nuovo. Un funzionamento
prolungato a carico leggero durante il
periodo iniziale di funzionamento del
motore può causare l’ingresso di olio
lubricante nell’impianto di scarico. Il
carico massimo può essere applicato su
un motore nuovo non appena il motore
viene messo in servizio e la temperatura
del liquido refrigerante ha raggiunto
almeno i 60
O
C.
Attenzione:
• Sarà meglio per il motore se il carico
viene applicato immediatamente dopo
l’avviamento iniziale.
• Non far funzionare il motore a regimi
elevati a vuoto.
• Non sovraccaricare il motore.
Angolo di inclinazione
Per imbarcazioni con motori ausiliari, può
essere necessario usare il motore durante
la navigazione contro vento. In queste
condizioni, è permesso un angolo di
inclinazione (verso sinistro o verso dritta)
di no a 25o per il funzionamento continuo
o di 35o per il funzionamento intermittente.

1. De toerenregeling van de motor op
minimum zetten. Zorg ervoor dat de
brandstofkraan (indien aanwezig) open
staat. Is de motor gedurende langere tijd
zwaar belast, laat deze dan een of twee
minuten afkoelen.
2. Druk op de stoptoets (A6 pagina 15)
(A6 pagina 17) tot de motor stopt. Laat de
stopschakelaar los of draai de schakelaar
naar de uit-stand.
Instellen van toerenbereik van
de motor
Het ingestelde stationaire toerental
en het maximale toerental mogen niet
door de bediener van de motor worden
gewijzigd, omdat dit tot beschadiging van
de motor of de transmissie kan leiden.
Het verbreken van de verzegeling van
de brandstonspuitpomp door een niet
door Perkins geautoriseerde persoon kan
gevolgen hebben voor de garantie op de
motor.
Inlopen
Het geleidelijk aan laten inlopen van een
nieuwe motor is niet nodig. Langdurig
bedrijf bij lichte belasting kan er bij een
nieuwe motor toe leiden dat er motorolie
in het uitlaatsysteem komt. Een nieuwe
motor kan direct maximaal worden belast
zodra de koelvloeistof een temperatuur
van minimaal 60
O
C (140
O
F) heeft bereikt.
Voorzichtig:
• Het is beter voor de motor om deze
na ingebruikname zo spoedig mogelijk te
belasten.
• De motor niet onbelast op hoge toeren
laten draaien.
• De motor niet overbelasten.
Kantelhoek
Voor jachten met hulpmotoren kan het
nodig zijn om de motor tegen de wind in
te gebruiken. Onder deze condities is een
kantelhoek (aan bak- of stuurboord) van
max. 25
O
continu resp. van 35
O
kortstondig
toegestaan.
