Caution: After a period in storage, but
before the engine is started, operate
the starter motor with the stop solenoid
disconnected until oil pressure is
indicated. Oil pressure is indicated
when the low pressure warning light is
extinguished. Connect the stop solenoid.
If the engine protection is done correctly
according to the above recommendations,
no corrosion damage will normally occur.
Perkins or Wimborne Marine Power
Centre are not responsible for damage
which may occur when an engine is in
storage after a period in service.
How to add antifreeze to the
raw water system for engine
preservation purposes
Before antifreeze is added to the raw
water system the system should be
ushed out with fresh water. To do this
operate the engine for one to two minutes
with the seacock closed and with a supply
of fresh water through the open top of the
raw water strainer.
1. Obtain two empty, clean containers
each with a capacity of approximately 9,0
litres (2 UK gallons) 9.6 US quarts. Also
obtain 4,5 litre (1 UK gallon) 5 US quarts
of POWERPART antifreeze.
2. Remove the hose from the raw water
connection on the exhaust elbow and
put the end of the hose into one of the
containers.
3. Remove the cover from the top of the
raw water strainer, and with the seacock
closed, add some antifreeze through the
open top of the raw water strainer. Start
the engine and run the engine at idle
speed, then continue to add the remainder
of the antifreeze through the open top of
the strainer.
4. Operate the engine for several minutes.
During this period, change the containers
around, pour the antifreeze/water solution
from the container at the outlet (hose end)
into the strainer.
5. When the antifreeze is mixed
thoroughly and has been circulated
through the raw water system, stop
the engine. Fit the top of the raw water
strainer.
6. Connect the hose to the raw water
connection on the exhaust elbow.
7. Put a label on the engine to make the
operator aware that antifreeze is in the
raw water system and must be drained
before the secock is opened and the
engine operated.
Attenzione: Dopo un periodo di inattività,
ma prima di avviare il motore, azionare il
motorino di avviamento con il solenoide
di arresto scollegato no a quando viene
rilevata la pressione dell’olio. La pressione
dell’olio è indicata dallo spegnimento
della spia di bassa pressione. Collegare il
solenoide di arresto.
Se gli interventi protettivi del motore
vengono eseguiti correttamente
seguendo le raccomandazioni indicate
in precedenza, non si avranno danni
causati dalla corrosione. La Perkins o
la Wimborne Marine Power Centre non
si assumono responsabilità alcuna per i
danni che possono vericarsi durante un
periodo di inattività prolungata del motore
dopo un periodo di servizio.
Come aggiungere antigelo al
circuito dell’acqua bruta ai ni
della preservazione del motore
Prima di aggiungere antigelo al circuito
dell’acqua bruta, lavare il circuito stesso
con acqua dolce. Per farlo, azionare il
motore per uno o due minuti con la presa
dell’acqua di mare chiusa e alimentando
acqua dolce dalla parte superiore aperta
del ltro dell’acqua bruta.
1. Procurarsi due contenitori vuoti e puliti
con una capacità individuale di 9,0 litri
circa. Procurarsi anche 4,5 litri di antigelo
POWERPART.
2. Scollegare il essibile dal raccordo
dell’acqua bruta sul gomito di scarico e
inlare il capo del essibile in uno dei
contenitori.
3. Togliere il coperchio dalla parte
superiore del ltro dell’acqua bruta, e
con la presa dell’acqua di mare chiusa,
aggiungere dell’antigelo nella parte
superiore aperta del ltro dell’acqua bruta.
Mettere in moto, far funzionare il motore al
minimo e continuare ad aggiungere il resto
dell’antigelo dalla parte superiore aperta
del ltro.
4. Far funzionare il motore per alcuni
minuti. Durante questo periodo, invertire
i contenitori, versare la soluzione di
antigelo/acqua dal contenitore sul lato di
scarico (capo del essibile) nel ltro.
5. Quando l’antigelo è stato
completamente mescolato ed è stato fatto
circolare nel circuito dell’acqua bruta,
spegnere il motore. Montare il coperchio
del ltro dell’acqua bruta.
6. Collegare il essibile al raccordo
dell’acqua bruta sul gomito di scarico.
7. Incollare un’etichetta sul motore per
ricordare all’operatore che l’impianto
dell’acqua bruta contiene antigelo che
deve essere scaricato prima di aprire la
presa dell’acqua di mare..

Voorzichtig: Na de opslagperiode en
voordat de motor wordt gestart, dient de
startmotor te worden bediend met de
stopschakelaar in de stopstand totdat
oliedruk wordt aangegeven. Oliedruk
wordt aangegeven wanneer het lage-
drukwaarschuwingslampje niet meer
brandt. Sluit de stopsolenoïde aan.
Wanneer de motorbescherming correct
wordt uitgevoerd volgens bovenstaande
aanbevelingen, zal zich normaal
gesproken geen schade door corrosie
voordoen. Perkins noch Wimborne Marine
Power Centre kunnen aansprakelijk
worden gesteld voor schade aan de motor
ten gevolge van opslag na een tijd te zijn
gebruikt.
Toevoegen van antivries aan
het buitenboordwatersysteem
voor het behoud van de motor
Voordat antivries wordt toegevoegd aan
het buitenboordwatersysteem, moet
het systeem worden gespoeld met
schoon water. Laat hiertoe de motor
een of twee minuten draaien met de
buitenboordwaterkraan gesloten, terwijl
schoon water wordt toegevoerd via het
open buitenboordwaterlter.
1. Zorg voor twee lege, schone
opvangbakken met een inhoud van ca.
9,0 l (2 UK gallons) / 9,6 US quarts. Zorg
ook voor 4,5 l (1 UK gallon) / 5 US quarts
POWERPART antivries.
2. Maak de slang los van de aansluiting op
de uitlaatbocht en sluit de slang aan op één
van de blikken.
3. Verwijder de afdekking bovenop
de buitenboordwaterzeef. Sluit de
buitenboordwaterkraan en giet wat
antivries door de open bovenzijde van
de buitenboordwaterzeef. Start de motor
en laat deze stationair lopen. Giet dan
de overgebleven antivries door de open
bovenkant van de zeef.
4. Laat de motor enkele minuten draaien.
Wissel continu de opvangbakken, en schud
de antivries/water-oplossing telkens terug
aan de uitlaat (slangzijde) van het lter.
5. Wanneer de antivries goed is vermengd
en door het buitenboordwatersysteem
heeft gecirculeerd, moet de motor
worden afgezet. Breng het deksel van de
buitenboordwaterzeef aan.
6. Sluit de slang aan op het
buitenboordwatersysteem op de
uitlaatbocht.
7. Breng een label aan op de motor
om de operator te informeren dat het
buitenboordwater antivries bevat en
dient te worden afgetapt voordat de
buitenboordwaterkraan wordt geopend en
de motor weer in bedrijf wordt genomen.
