How to set the valve tip
clearances
Notes:
• The valve tip clearance is checked with
a feeler gauge between the top of the
valve stem and the rocker lever (A), with
the engine cold. The correct clearance for
the inlet valves is 0,20 mm (0.008 in) and
for the exhaust valves is 0.45 mm (0.018
in).
• The arrangement of the valves is
shown in (B). Valve numbers (B1) and
(B2) are for number 1 cylinder which is at
the front of the engine.
• Clockwise rotation is when seen from
the front of the engine.
1. Disconnect the breather pipe from the
rocker cover and remove the three cap
nuts, steel washers and rubber seals. Lift
off the rocker cover.
2. Rotate the crankshaft in a clockwise
direction until the valve (B7) has just
opened and the valve (B8) has not closed
completely. Check the clearances of the
valves (B1) and (B2) and adjust them, if
necessary.
3. Rotate the crankshaft in a clockwise
direction until the valve (B3) has just
opened and the valve (B4) has not closed
completely. Check the clearances of the
valves (B5) and (B6) and adjust them, if
necessary.
4. Rotate the crankshaft in a clockwise
direction until the valve (B1) has just
opened and the valve (B2) has not closed
completely. Check the clearances of the
valves (B7) and (B8) and adjust them, if
necessary.
Come registrare il gioco valvole
Nota:
• Il gioco valvole viene controllato con
uno spessimetro inlato tra la parte
superiore dello stelo valvola e il bilanciere
(A), con il motore freddo. Il gioco corretto
è di 0,20 mm. Il gioco corretto è di 0,45
mm per le valvole di scarico.
• La disposizione delle valvole è illustrata
in (B). Le valvole numero (B1) e (B2) sono
quelle del cilindro numero 1 che si trova
sulla parte anteriore del motore.
• La rotazione in senso orario si intende
come vista dalla parte frontale del motore.
1. Scollegare il tubetto di sato dal
coperchio bilancieri, svitare i tre dadi
angiati ed estrarre le rondelle in acciaio e
le tenute in gomma. Estrarre il coperchio
bilancieri.
2. Ruotare l’albero motore in senso orario
no a quando la valvola (B7) si è appena
aperta e quella (B8) non si è ancora
chiusa completamente. Controllare il gioco
delle valvole (B1) e (B2) e registrarlo, se
necessario.
3. Ruotare l’albero motore in senso orario
no a quando la valvola (B3) si è appena
aperta e quella (B4) non si è ancora
chiusa completamente. Controllare il gioco
delle valvole (B5) e (B6) e registrarlo, se
necessario.
4. Ruotare l’albero motore in senso orario
no a quando la valvola (B1) si è appena
aperta e quella (B2) non si è ancora
chiusa completamente. Controllare il gioco
delle valvole (B7) e (B8) e registrarlo se
necessario.
Afstellen van de klepspeling
Let op:
• De klepspeling wordt met een
voelermaat gecontroleerd tussen de
bovenzijde van de klepsteel en de
tuimelaar (A), bij koude motor. Klepspeling
(warm of koud). Inlaat 0,20 mm (0.008
inches). Uitlaat 0,45 mm (0.018 inches).
• De klepposities zijn te zien op de
afbeelding (B). De kleppen (B1) en (B2)
zijn voor de eerste cilinder die zich aan de
voorzijde van de motor bevindt.
• De draairichting “met de klok mee” is
gezien vanaf de voorzijde van de motor.
1. Maak de ventilatieleiding los van
het kleppendeksel en verwijder de drie
dekselmoeren, stalen onderlegringen
en rubberen pakkingen. Licht het
kleppendeksel op.
2. Draai de krukas met de klok mee totdat
klep (B7) net open gaat en klep (B8)
niet helemaal is gesloten. Controleer de
speling van de kleppen (B1 en B2) en stel
deze, indien nodig, af.
3. Draai de krukas met de klok mee totdat
klep (B3) net open gaat en klep (B4)
niet helemaal is gesloten. Controleer de
speling van de kleppen (B5) en (B6) en
stel deze, indien nodig, af.
4. Draai de krukas met de klok mee totdat
klep (B1) net open gaat en klep (B2)
niet helemaal is gesloten. Controleer de
speling van de kleppen (B7) en (B8) en
stel deze, indien nodig, af..
