PD Classifications
A PD may be classified by the PSE based on the classification information provided by the PD. The intent of PD
classification is to provide information about the maximum power required by the PD during operation.
However, to improve power management at the PSE, the PD provides a signature about Class level.
The PD is classified based on power. The classification of the PD is the maximum power that the PD will draw
across all input voltages and operational modes.
A PD will return to Class 0 to 4 in accordance with the maximum power draw as specified by Table 4-16-1.
