3. In the Time field, set the clock to the current time by selecting the portion of time to be
changed and using the up and down arrows to change each one.
4. If desired, click Set Date/Time Formats... to set date and time formats.
The Set Date/Time Formats
window opens.
a) Manually enter the desired formats for short date, long date, and time. Use Table
5.9 as a guide.

b) Click OK to register changes and return to the Set Date and Time
window.
When any formats are changed using this window, the formats of the date and time
are immediately updated to the new format in the Set Date and Time
window.
5. Click OK in the Set Date and Time
window to save all changes.
Note: Time values cannot be entered or typed in manually; values must be
selected using the up and down arrows.
Note: Any deviations from the format codes in Table 5.9 will produce error
windows, which will prompt the operator to correct the error.
Format Code Meaning
d Day of the month as digits without leading zeros for single digit days
dd Day of the month as digits with leading zeros for single digit days
ddd Day of the week as a 3-letter abbreviation
dddd Spelled-out day of the week
M Month as digits without leading zeros for single digit months
MM Month as digits with leading zeros for single digit months
MMM Month as a three letter abbreviation
MMMM Spelled-out month
y Year represented by only the last digit
yy Year represented by only the last two digits.
yyyy Year represented by all four digits
h Hours without leading zeros for single-digit hours (12-hour clock)
hh Hours with leading zeros for single-digit hours (12-hour clock)
H Hours without leading zeros for single-digit hours (24-hour clock)
HH Hours with leading zeros for single-digit hours (24-hour clock)
m Minutes without leading zeros for single-digit minutes
mm Minutes with leading zeros for single-digit minutes
s Seconds without leading zeros for single-digit seconds
ss Seconds with leading zeros for single-digit seconds
t One character time marker string (e.g. A or P)
tt Multi-character time marker string (e.g. AM or PM)
Note: Most laboratories should only have to format the date and time once.
