SettingtheDateandTime
TheODUmaintainsadateandtime.Thedateandtimeshouldbesynchronizedwithany
NetworkTimeProtocol(NTP)version3compatibleserver.
DuringpoweruptheODUattemptstoconfiguretheinitialdateandtimeusinganNTPServer.
IftheserverIPaddressisnotconfiguredorisnotreachable,adefaulttimeisset.
WhenconfiguringtheNTPServerIPaddress,youshouldalsoconfiguretheoffsetfromthe
UniversalCoordinatedTime(UTC).Ifthereisnoserveravailable,youcaneithersetthedate
andtime,oryoucansetittousethedateandtimefromthemanagingcomputer.Notethat
manualsettingisnotrecommendedsinceitwillbeoverriddenbyareset,powerup,or
synchronizationwithanNTPServer.
Tosetthedateandtime:
1. DeterminetheIPaddressoftheNTPservertobeused.
2. Testitforconnectivityusingthecommand(WindowsXPand7),forexample:
EnhancedSecurity*:
Immediatelyimplementtheenhancedsecurityoption.
Whenandiftheunitisreset,thereisa2minutegrace
periodwheretheenhancedsecurityoptionistemporarily
removed.Afterthistime,theenhancedsecurityoptionis
reestablishedautomatically.
EnhancedSecurity:
Immediatelyimplementtheenhancedsecurityoption.
TheNTPusesUDPport123.IfafirewallisconfiguredbetweentheODU
andtheNTPServerthisportmustbeopened.
Itcantakeupto8minutesfortheNTPtosynchronizetheODUdateand
time.
