Dual range
Note:
Dual Range operation:
1. Dual Range operation is not available if Marpa is ON.
2. With Dual Range switched on:
• You cannot acquire MARPA targets.
• Chart-Sync is temporarily disabled.
• Chart overlay is temporarily disabled.
If dual range is set to on, the system allows you to view two ranges simultaneously
in separate windows.
Short range gives you a maximum range of 3 nautical miles; long range provides
standard ranges. It is not possible for the long range to be set to a range less than
the short range i.e. if Short range = 3nm then Long range cannot be less than 3nm.
Note:
The SHORT option for Super High Definition (SHD) radars in Dual range, op-
erates in HD mode only. LONG operates in SHD for all ranges (see table below for
definition of ranges and radar operation).
Tune adjust
The tune adjust function is used to fine-tune the scanner’s receiver for maximum
target returns on the display.
Auto mode: recommended
In AUTO mode, the radar tunes itself automatically on all range scales.
This is the default mode and it is recommended that you leave the tune function in
auto mode to ensure that the radar receiver is always tuned to receive the maximum
signal.
Manual mode
If you do set the tune function to MANUAL, you will need to adjust it about 10
minutes after you have turned on the radar, as the required setting will change after
the magnetron has warmed up.
Adjust the control to obtain the maximum signal strength (indicated by the eight-
step horizontal bar). If you cannot tune the radar successfully, refer to the
Installation Guide.
