Fault Identification (cont.)
Table 10.A
Fault Display Explanation (cont.)
Display Fault Code Possible Causes Possible Solutions
Underload F9
• broken motor shaft
• broken belts, gears, machine
• pump cavitation
• repair or replace motor
• check machine, repair if necessary
• check pump system
Voltage
Unbalance
F10
• supply unbalance is greater than
the user-programmed value
• the delay is too short for the
application
• unbalanced voltage feedback
• check power system and correct if necessary
• extend the time delay to match the application
requirements
• check voltage feedback circuits
Phase reversal F16
• Incoming supply voltage is not in
the expected ABC sequence
• Check power wiring
Jam F19
• motor current has exceeded the
user-programmed jam level
• Correct the source of the jam.
Current Feedback
Loss
F20
• Connection between Bul. 825
current module is lost.
• Check cable. Replace cable.
Comm Fault F21
• Communication disconnection at
the serial port
• Check for a communication cable disconnection to the
SMC Dialog Plus™ module.
Open Gate
(with phase indication)
F23 – F25
• open gate circuitry
• open resistor on voltage divider
feedback board
• Check SCR gate resistance.
• Check gate lead connections to gate driver boards.
• Check gate drive system; gate driver board, fibre optics,
interface board, by performing power supply tests.
• Replace divider board.
Excess starts
Per hour
F64
• number of starts in a one-hour
period has exceeded the value
programmed
• Wait an appropriate amount of time to restart.
• Increase the number of starts per hour setting.
NOTE: The SMC is rated for a maximum of two
starts per hour. Please contact the factory if the
application requires more frequent starts.
System Faults
F128
and above
• internal control module hardware
failure
• Replace control module.
MPU Comm Fault –
• internal control module hardware
failure
• Replace control module.
