modemandtriestofindoutthefrequencydifference(RXoffset)betweentheopenSPOT3andthetransmitter.
openSPOT3'soscillatorhasafrequencystabilityof0.5ppm,andeveryopenSPOT3isfactorycalibratedbyus,so
you'llonlyneedtousethisspecialconnectorifyourtransceiver'stransmitfrequencyisdrifting.Wesuggestyou
toonlyrunAutoCaliftheopenSPOT3showsBERabove1%foryourradio'stransmission,aserrorsinthevoice
streamusuallywon'tbenoticeableiftheBERisbelow1%.
TouseAutoCal,setthemodemmodetothemodeyourradiousesandthemodemfrequencytotheradio's
transmitfrequency,thenclickontheSavebutton.HoldthePTTbuttononyourradiountilall3phasesare
completed.ThefoundRXoffsetwillbedisplayedattheLastfoundoffsetfieldanditwillbeautomaticallysaved
forthecurrentmodemmode.
Keepinmind,thatyoucanalwayscheckyourownvoicequalitybyusingtheopenSPOT3'sbuilt-inlocalecho
service.
IftheAutoCaldoesnotenterPhase2,thenholdthePTTonyourtransceiverforatleastthetimeittakesforthe
progressbartogofrom0%to100%.MakesurethetransceiveristransmittingontheAutoCalfrequency
(433.900MHzbydefault).IftheAutoCalstilldoesnotenterPhase2,thentheRXoffsetbetweenthetransceiver
andtheopenSPOT3isgreaterthan500Hz.Whatyoucandoistoswitchfrequencyonthetransceiveroronthe
openSPOT3,orenteranRXoffsetgreaterthan500HzmanuallyonthemodempageandusetheopenSPOT3's
built-inlocalechoservicetofindoutthelowestBER.
