4 Installation
This chapter describes the procedure for mounting and installing the GM35 measuring sys-
tem prior to commissioning. The preparations described in Chapter 3 "Planning guidelines"
must be completed.
4.1 Preparations
4.1.1 Check the components delivered
‡ Check the components delivered against the delivery note to ensure that the measuring
system is complete. The standard delivery contains the components described in
Chapter 2.2 "Operating principle".
‡ Check that the power system voltage and frequency specifications on the rating plates
of the GM35 components match the specifications for your installation, and those on the
delivery and purchase order.
4.1.2 Prerequisites for installation
Before you proceed with the steps described here, make sure that:
‡ Ensure safe application within the defined limits (see Kapitel 10 "Technical specificati-
ons, consumables and spare parts", Seite 95).
‡ Ensure that the considerations defined in the project planning stage are observed (see
chapter 3.2, page 20) and that the installation preparations have been carried out prop-
erly by the customer (see chapter 3.3, page 23).
ATTENTION
Power supply OFF
You must ensure that the power supply to the relevant components or cables remains
switched off while the work described below is being carried out, and that it can only be ac-
tivated by the relevant personnel in accordance with the applicable safety regulations once
the work has been completed, or for test purposes.
4.2 Mounting the system components
4.2.1 SR unit and measuring probe
The GM35 SR unit and measuring probe are mounted on the duct as part of the
commissioning procedure (refer to Chapter 6), since these components must be adjusted
outside the gas-carrying duct. To ensure that the system can be started correctly, it is
essential that the SR unit and measuring probe be stored in a dry, dust-free environment
(preferably at room temperature) before they are installed.
ATTENTION
Do not mount the SR unit or measuring probe before the system is commissioned
Unsuitable ambient conditions or the atmosphere in the measuring duct could cause
damage to the measuring system, thereby preventing startup. Depending on the pressure,
gas temperature, and composition of the measurement gas, opening the gas duct can
cause injury.
