High Speed Counter Encoder Module User Manual
1.7 24-Bit Counters Non-Quadrature Mode Outputs
In
non-quadrature counting modes, the internal clocking for the Compare,
Carry and Borrow pulses are one-half of the input clock width.
Y
ou can select one of four options for the output signal of each 24-bit counter
(Counter 1, Output 1; and Counter 4, Output 5) in Up counting and Down
counting modes.
The Carry T
oggle output, in Up counting mode, changes state when the
count overflows. See Figure 1-10. After a counter reset, the Carry T
oggle
output is on. Set the output jumper to Compare.
The Borrow T
oggle output, in Down counting mode, changes state when the
count underflows. See Figure 1-1
1. After a counter reset, the Borrow T
oggle
output is on. Set the output jumper to Compare T
oggle.
The Rollover jumper selects a one-half clock pulse signal that is active when
the carry or borrow signal is active from the counter
. This signal appears on
Output 1 (Channel 1) or on Output 5 (Channel 2). After counter reset, the
output signal is Off.
The Compare jumper selects a one-half clock pulse that is active when the
count value equals the preset value. This pulse appears on Output 1
(Channel 1) or on Output 5 (Channel 2). After counter reset, the output
signal is Off.
The Compare T
oggle jumper selects a signal that changes state on the next
count after the count value equals the preset value. This signal appears on
Output 1 (Channel 1) or on Output 5 (Channel 2). After counter reset, the
output signal is on.
The Latch jumper selects a signal that is active when the count value equals
the preset value; the signal remains active until reset by the PLC or by the
second preset (Preset 2 or Preset 6). This signal appears on Output 1
(Channel 1) or on Output 5 (Channel 2). After counter reset, the output
signal is Off.
In all module counting modes, the PLC can read the Compare T
oggle, Carry
T
oggle, and Borrow T
oggle flags in Status Word WX17. T
able 1-1 and
T
able 1-2 summarize the active outputs for various counter modes.
