6.4.4
Installation altitude
The following restrictions apply for the use of the 3RT1, 3RT2, 3RH1, and 3RH2 contactors
at installation altitudes higher than 2000 m* above sea level.
These specifications relate to a maximum ambient temperature of 40 °C.
Installation altitudes up to 2500 m above sea level:
Reduction in rated insulation voltage to 0.93 x U
i
Reduction in current load to 0.93 x I
n
Setting the motor rated current to 1.02 x I
e
Installation altitudes up to 3000 m above sea level:
Reduction in rated insulation voltage to 0.88 x U
i
Reduction in current load to 0.88 x I
n
Setting the motor rated current to 1.05 x I
e
Installation altitudes up to 4000 m above sea level:
Reduction in rated insulation voltage to 0.79 x U
i
Reduction in current load to 0.78 x I
n
Setting the motor rated current to 1.1 x I
e
Installation altitudes up to 5000 m above sea level:
Reduction in rated insulation voltage to 0.75 x U
i
Reduction in current load to 0.7 x I
n
Setting the motor rated current to 1.15 x I
e
Note
Due to the influence of reduced air pressure, these specificatio
ns do not apply for devices in
vacuum technology.
* According to IEC 60947-1, 6.1.2 Altitude:
The altitude of the installation location must not exceed 2 000 m above sea level.
Note
For plants at higher altitudes, the reduced insulation strength and
the reduced cooling effect
of the air must be taken into consideration. For electrical devices that are to operate under
such conditions, the design and application must be agreed between manufacturer and user.
