11.6 Output Routing
11.6.1 Scanning
HUI doesn't allow flexible control over channel routing. In addition HUI only sends shortened
output/bus names, which are only 4 characters long. So it's important that you name all outputs
uniquely using only 4 characters, otherwise Tango won't be able to distinguish between different
outputs. Keep in mind that Pro Tools automatically names the Sub-Paths based on the parent Paths. So
you'll need to rename them as well or remove them completely.
If you ever rename any of the paths Tango needs to know about them, simply rescan the output names
(press Resync I/O). Make sure that the first channel has no automation before you perform the scan,
otherwise Pro Tools will pop-up a stream of dialog boxes.
11.6.2 Routing
Changing channel outputs are not always instant as Tango needs to scan the outputs on the fly.

11.7.1 Time Display Formats
To ensure backwards compatability with Pro Series consoles Tango's time display only supports the
HH:MM:SS:FF format for the moment. So all Pro Tools time display modes (except the timecode) are
reformatted as follows:
Bars Beats: AAAAAA | B | XX is displayed as AA:AA:0B:XX. Note that the last and first digits are
dropped.
Samples: SSSSSSSS is displayed as SS:SS:SS:SS. If number of samples is a number with more than 8
digits than it will be truncated (highest digits).
Min Secs: MMMMM:SS.XXX is displayed as MM:MM:SS:XX. Note that the last and first digits are
dropped.
Feet + Frames: XXXXXXXX:FF is displayed as XX:XX:XX:FF. Note that highest feet digits might be
truncated if they can not be fitted on the Tango time display.
11.7.2 Locators
Locators work as expected with a few exceptions. If you are in Samples or Min Secs mode than the
least significant figure is ignored when storing a location. For instance, if Pro Tools playback head is
sitting at 5:23.356 and you store it in a Tango locator, when you recall it the playback head will jump to
5:23.350.
Also, in any mode if higher digits are truncated on Tango the locators will not be able to store the
correct timeline positions.
11.8 Automation States
11.8.1 Overview
Tango can change channel automation modes to off, read, touch, latch, write and trim. However
feedback from Pro Tools regarding channel automation is limited. If Read is lit up on Tango then the
channel is in read mode, if Write is lit up then channel could be either in touch, read or write mode and
if neither of them is lit up then automation is off for that channel.
