Measures to take if the lift truck is to
be shut down for a long time
If the lift truck is to be shut down for a long
time, the following measures must be taken
to protect against corrosion. If the lift truck is
to be shut down for more than two months, it
must be parked in a clean and dry area. The
area should also be well ventilated and frost
free. The following additional measures must
be taken:
Measures before shutdown
– Clean the lift truck thoroughly.
– Lift forks to the stop se
veral times.
– Check hydraulic oil level and top up if
required.
– Apply oil or grease thinly to all uninsulated
moving parts.
– Check the condition an
d acid density of
the battery and mainta
in the battery as
specified by the manufa
cturer. (Follow
the instructions prov
ided by the battery
manufacturer).
– Apply a suitable contact spray to all exposed
electrical contacts.
CAUTION
– Jack up the lift truck so that all the wheels are
clear of the ground. This prevents permanent
deformation of the tyres.
– Cover the lift truck with a cotton sheet and
protect against dust.
CAUTION
We do not recommend using a plastic sheet as this
promotes the formation of condensation.
If the lift truck is to be shut down for even longer
periods, contact your service centre to find out
about additional measures.
