Definition of terms used for responsible persons
Operating company
The operating company is the natural or legal
person or group who operates the truck or on
whose authority the truck is used.
The operating company must ensure that the
truck is only used for its proper purpose and in
compliance with the safety regulations set out
in these operating instructions.

Specialist
A qualified person is defined as a service
engineer or a person who fulfils the following
requirements:
• A completed vocation
al qualification that
demonstrably proves
their professional
expertise. This proo
f should consist of
a vocational qualifi
cation or a similar
document.
• Professional experience indicating that
the qualified person has gained practical
experience of trucks over a proven period
during their career. During this time, they
have become familiar with a wide range of
symptoms that require checks to be carried
out, for example from the results of a hazard
assessment or from a daily inspection.
• Recent professional involvement in the field
of the truck test in question and an appropri-
ate further qualification are essential. The
qualified person must have experience of
carrying out the test in question or of car-
rying out similar tests. Moreover, such a
person must also be aware of the latest
technological developments regarding the
