•Thematerialsdisplayedarebasicmodelmaterials.WithConnex2and
Connex3printers,thesematerialscanbecombinedtocreatedigital
materials(see"DigitalMaterials"onpage5-27).
•Thematerialdisplayedonthetop(VeroBlack,inthefigureabove)is
consideredtheprimarymodelmaterial(“Model-1”).Itisassignedto
objectsthatdonothaveamaterialassignmentwhenyouplacethemon
thebuildtray.Forexample,sincestlfilesdonotcontaininformation
aboutthemodelmaterial,ObjetStudioassignstheprimarymodelmaterial
tothem.Also,ifyoutrytoinsertobjdffileswhoseassignedmaterialsare
notrecognizedbyyourversionofObjetStudio,youcaninsertthefileby
substitutingtheprimarymodelmaterialforthemissingmaterials.
•SelectSingleMaterialifyouwanttoprintusingonlyonematerial—allof
thematerialdrop-downmenuscontainthesamematerial.Ifyoudecideto
printwithmultiplematerials,thematerialinthetopdrop-downmenu
remainsassignedtotheobjectuntilyouselectanothermaterial.
•Ifyouinsertanobjdffileintoanemptybuildtray,andthemodel-material
assignmentdoesnotmatchthesettingsontheTray Settings ribbon,these
settingsarechangedautomatically.However,ifthereisanobjectalready
onthebuildtraywhosematerialsdonotmatchthematerialassignmentin
theobjdffile,youcannotplacethenewobjectonthetray.Toprintthis
object,youhavethefollowingoptions:
Insteadofprintingitonthesamebuildtray,printthenewobjectasa
separatejob.
Changethematerialsassignedtoobjectsonthebuildtraytomatch
thoseassignedtothenewobject(see"ChangingtheModelMaterial"
onthenextpageand"AssigningaModelMaterialtoObjects"onpage
5-28).
Changethematerialsassignedtothenewobjectbeforeinsertingit,so
thereisnoconflictwiththesettingsontheTray Settingsribbon.
Tochangethematerialsassignedtoanobjectbeforeinsertingit:
1. OpenanotherObjetStudiowindow,byrunningtheapplicationfromthe
WindowsStartmenu.
2. Insertthenewobject(objdffile)intotheemptybuildtray.
3. ChangethematerialselectionsettingsontheTray Settingsribbonto
thoseusedontheotherbuildtray.
4. Assignmaterialstotheobject(see"AssigningaModelMaterialtoObjects"
onpage5-28).
5. Selecttheobjectandcopyit.
6. DisplaytheotherObjetStudiowindow,andpastetheobjectontothebuild
tray.
Note:Youcansavetheobjectwiththenewmaterialseitherasanewobjdffile,
orbysavingtheoriginalfilewiththechanges.
