Install the selection lever cable
©
into the cable stopper
©
located
on the frame. Then, finger tighten the selection lever
cable adjusting nuts
©
to hold it in place.
NOTE:
Make
sure the selection lever cable is positioned so
that
the
cable
stopper © on the frame is between the selection lever
cable
adjusting nuts © and washers @.
Turn
the
cable adjusting nuts
to
align
the
selection lever
cable eye rod hole
©
with
the projection
®
on the selection
shift
lever.
Tighten the adjusting nuts to securely.
A CAUTION
Make
sure to adjust the selection cable length prop-
erly. Improper adjustment may result in poor shifting
and damage to the cable, selection shift lever, or
selection
lever.
•
Fasten
the selection lever cable and selection shift lever,
by
installing
the selection lever cable, washer, and
E-ring.
NOTE:
Direction of the eye rod is determined by the side (differential
case
or crankcase
side)
it is installed on.
A CAUTION
Be
sure to install the selection lever eye rod
accu-
rately and
that
the end face of the selection lever con-
tacts the flange face of the bushing ® of the selection
lever cable.
NOTE:
In
handling the push-pull cable, use care not to bend it. Shown
in the illustration is a strictly prohibited example.
A CAUTION
Do not apply a load to the end of the eye rod
with
the
cable and the metal fixture. Applying
such
a load may
cause
the sleeve to break or come off the pivot
sus-
pension.
