BRAKE
SHOES
This vehicle
is
equipped
with
a
brake lining wear
limit
indicator
on the brake panel.
At
the condition
of
normal lining wear,
an
extended line from
the
index mark
on the
brake camshaft
should
be
within the range
embossed
on
the brake panel
with
the
brake on.
To check wear
of
the brake lining, perform the following steps.
•
Make
sure the brake system is properly adjusted.
•
Operate
the
brake,
to
check
if the
extension line from
the
index mark
© is
within the range
©
indicated
on
the brake
panel.
• If the
extension line
is
outside
the
range,
the
brake
shoe
assembly should
be
replaced to ensure safe operation.

BRAKE
FLUID
Inspect every 1 000 km (600 miles, 3 months).
Replace every two years.
BRAKE
FLUID
LEVEL
•
Place the handlebar straight.
•
Check
the brake fluid level
by
observing the lower
limit
line
on the front brake fluid reservoir.
•
When
the
brake fluid level
is
below
the
lower
limit
line,
replenish
with
brake fluid that meets the following specifica-
tion.

WARNING
* The brake system of this vehicle is
filled
with
a gly-
col-based brake fluid. Do not use or mix
different
types of
fluid
such as silicone-based and
petro-
leum-based fluids. Do not use any brake
fluid
taken
from
old, used or unsealed containers. Never re-
use
brake
fluid
left
over
from
the last servicing or
stored for a long
period
of
time.
* Brake fluid, if it leaks,
will
interfere
with
safe run-
ning and
immediately
discolor
painted
surfaces.
Check
the brake hoses and hose joints for cracks
and oil leakage
before
riding.
