FINAL GEAR BEARING CASE SHIM CLEARANCE
Measure the clearance ® between the driven gear and bearing.
Pay attention to the following points:
Measure the height ® of the bearing inner race surface and bear-
ing case flange using the special tools and straightedge.

09900-20701: Magnetic stand
09900-21203: Surface plate
09900-21304: V-block set

Mesure the height (2) of the mating surface of the gear case and
driven gear back side using the straightedge and special tool.

Decide the proper shim thickness ® by the following formula.
((2) - ®) - 0.10 mm = Shim thickness ®
0.10 mm: Proper clearance
®: Proper shim thickness
EXAMPLE
(2) = 10.00 mm
© = 9.00 mm
10.00-9.00-0.10 = 0.90
Select the 0.90-mm shims from the right table. Since it is the
proper shim thickness.
