Specify where
trigger wi ll
occur on the
video signal
6. Select a value from the Trigger On drop-down list to
specify where the trigger will occur on the video signal:
H If you select Field, use the drop-down l ist to select
either Odd, Even, or All.
H If you select Line #, use the multipurpose knob to
set the line number. Line numbers wrap when their
limits are reached. The range of line numbers
depends on the format.
If you select t he NTSC format, use the multipur-
pose knob to first scroll through all of the odd lines,
then the even lines.
H If you select All Lines, the trigger will occur on any
and all lines.
Set the holdoff
type
7. Speci fy Holdoff By Time or By Fields, and use the
multipurpose knob to change the value. If setting a
Custom format, only the By Time control is available.
Select the
polarity and
graticule type
8. Sel ect Normal or Inverted polarity:
H Normal generally triggers on negative polarity,
since the sync pulse leading edge is negat ive for
most standard formats.
H Use Inverted when probing circuitry that inverts the
video signal.
9. Al l graticule types are available for selection from the
drop-down list. The IRE grati cule is normally used with
NTSC signals, and the mV grati cule is normally used
with all other video signals.
Set mode and
holdoff
10. Mode and holdoff can be set for all standard trigger
types. Refer to Select the trigger mode on page 3--56
and Set holdoff on page 3--59. To learn more about
trigger mode and holdoff, see Trigger Modes on
page 3--51 and Trigger Holdoff on page 3--52.
