Measuring Waveforms
The oscilloscope features cursors and automatic measurements to assist you in
analyzing your waveforms. This section describes these tools:
H Taking Automatic Measurements describes how to set up the oscilloscope to
automatically measure and display a variety of waveform parameters.
H Taking Cursor Measurements describes using cursors to make amplitude and
timing measurements on waveforms.
NOTE. Appendix E, Optimizing Measurement Accuracy, describes how to run
compensation routines and deskew channels to optimize measurement accuracy.
Taking Automatic Measurements
This section describes how to set up the oscilloscope to automatically take and
display waveform measurements using channel, reference, and math waveforms
as sources. Brief descriptions of automatic measurement features follow.
Annotated Waveforms On Screen. Use the screen text feature to mark character-
ization levels that each measurement uses to compute results. Figure 3--32 shows
an example of a marked (annotated) waveform display. See Customizing the
Waveform Display on page 3--106 for additional information.
