2.5 Connections to the Telco circuits
If you are using analog POTS circuits please read this introductory section and then skip to
section 2.5.3
Introduction – Choices
First we must consider if the system will be connected directly to the Telco or will be
“behind” a PBX (private telephone system). The TWOx12 will generally be used
completely independently of any other phone system in your facility. In that case the
system block diagram will look similar to the “Direct Connection” example below.
Another option is to have one or more of the lines come off another phone system as shown
in the “Behind the PBX” and “Mixed Configuration” examples below. If you have a
telephone system capable of generating ISDN BRI on its station side then you may be able
to save money by having it generate some the ISDN BRI lines. See section 2.5.2 for more
on integrating the TWOx12 with a PBX.
